Classes Offered

INTRODUCTORY CLASS

The introductory class is appropriate for Aikidoists of all levels, in particular to the novice student. The main focus of these classes is on the development of the essential skills required for the safe and correct practice of Aikido.

ALL LEVELS CLASS

The ALL LEVELS classes are open to all adult dojo members. The classes are more demanding than the Introductory classes. Students should be familiar with the basic Aikido stances and ukemi (forward and backward falls). The classes cover a variety of practical Aikido techniques.

ADVANCED CLASS

Open to all adult members ranked 3rd kyu and above. The classes are more demanding building upon the basics developed in the Introductory and ALL LEVELS level classes.

WEAPONS CLASS

Open to all adult dojo members. Traditional Aikido weapons are tanto (wooden knife), boken (wooden sword), and jo (wooden staff) all of which are taught at the school.

TEEN CLASS

The teen class is appropriate for teenagers aged 13-19. The teen program emphasizes self defence in cooperation and harmony. Students gain knowledge of the basic techniques and are prepared to eventually attend the (adult) introductory or ALL LEVELS classes. Senior students from kids' class who meet the height and weight or skill requirements may attend pending instructor's permission.

KIDS CLASS

The kids's class is appropriate for children aged 5-12. The children's program emphasizes safety, cooperation and simple fun Aikido.

OPEN CLASS

There is no formal Aikido class during the open practice. All members are encouraged to practice and experiment with various aspects of Aikido.
