Classes Offered
INTRODUCTORY CLASS
The introductory class is appropriate for Aikidoists of all levels, in particular to the novice student. The main focus of these classes is on the development of the essential skills required for the safe and correct practice of Aikido.
ALL LEVELS CLASS
The ALL LEVELS classes are open to all adult dojo members. The classes are more demanding than the Introductory classes. Students should be familiar with the basic Aikido stances and ukemi (forward and backward falls). The classes cover a variety of practical Aikido techniques.
ADVANCED CLASS
Open to all adult members ranked 3rd kyu and above. The classes are more demanding building upon the basics developed in the Introductory and ALL LEVELS level classes.
OPEN CLASS
There is no formal Aikido class during the open practice. All members are encouraged to practice and experiment with various aspects of Aikido.
KIDS CLASS
The kids's class is appropriate for children aged 5-16. The children's program emphasizes safety, cooperation and simple fun Aikido.
KENJUTSU CLASS
The "Heart Reflection Style" of kenjutsu is taught during the weapons class. This style was created 450 years ago, and implies reading and responding to an opponent's intentions. Traditional Japanese weapons such as katana (sword), tanto (knife), jo (short staff) and naginata (bladed pole weapon) are taught.
IAIDO CLASS
Iaido is a modern style of Japanese swordsmanship, based on traditional sword techniques, focusing on individual formal katas.
