About Aikido Fees Location Members News & Events Schedule
Ottawa Aikikai is moving to Ottawa's QAAD Arts District!

As of October 23rd 2010, we'll be located in the prestigious Enriched Bread Artists complex, at 155 Loretta off Gladstone! That's not the main building right on Gladstone by the O Train – it is just around the corner on Loretta.

In appreciation of our new neighbours, we are offering 1 free month of Aikido to all local artists, and those who support them! Most local galleries have been provided with cards that are good for one free month when presented at our dojo. Or download and print your own cards. You just need a stamp or signature of a local gallery or artist.

What does it mean to "support" a local artist? Ideally, to buy some artwork, of course! Or take in a concert, or a play. But if you can convince them to stamp the card, you are in! We'll leave it up to each of them to interpret just what it means to "support" them. But we could well imagine, for exmaple, that it is supportive to visit their studio or gallery and view their works, and tell friends about it!

If you are a local artist or gallery that we've missed when giving out cards, please contact us as we'd love to give you some!

We are particularly excited about our new home in light of the long tradition the Japanese Samurai have with the Fine Arts. In addition to their skill with a sword, the Samurai were known for their appreciation of Fine Art, as well as their skill with a brush. Samurai were also known to write poetry in commemoration of special events. In fact, by wonderful coincidence - on our move date of October 23rd, Christie's of New York is holding an auction of Samurai art!

Please support our local artists, for the world would be so glum without them!

And if you live or work in the area of our new location, you won't feel left out either – we are offering 2 free weeks of Aikido to everyone who lives or works in Chinatown, Little Italy, Hintonburg, Mechanicsville, and the Civic Hospital areas. This as well as the Artist Offer expire at the end of March 2011.

As always, anyone and everyone can enjoy a free trial week of Aikido.

See our fees page for more details.
